In this episode of "Business Strategy: (For Weenie ADHD-preneurs)", Katie McManus talks us through the challenges of dealing with shiny object syndrome in your business and not having it take over in your marketing and your offerings!

What is Shiny Object Syndrome?

Shiny Object Syndrome is defined as "a continual state of distraction brought on by an ongoing belief that there is something new worth pursuing".

For entrepreneurs with ADHD, shiny object syndrome can be a real issue because we are constantly bombarded with distraction as it is.

And when that distraction takes the form of new ideas, products, or services, that can be detrimental to our business.

The key is to learn how to focus on one thing at a time and not get overwhelmed by shiny objects.

And that, beloved weenie, is where we can help you!

The 'squirrel' analogy

Think of it like this.

You're on a diet and doing great.

You've lost 10 pounds and you're feeling good about yourself.

Then, one day, you see a commercial for some new weight-loss programme that doesn't involve dieting that promises to help you lose 20 pounds.

Your resolve starts to crumble as you think about how good it would be to lose even more, and still be able to eat what you want.

Suddenly, you find yourself obsessing about the new programme and your diet starts to slip.

Even though you know the diet is the 'slow and steady wins the race' option, the shiny object syndrome takes over in your ADHD brain, and you struggle to fight it.

How to stop being a 'weenie' and start winning the battle with 'shiny object syndrome'! 😁

There are some things we need to consider when overcoming shiny object syndrome.

The first step is to recognise that shiny object syndrome is in your life and business.

This can be difficult because it's often hard to tell the difference between a legitimate new opportunity and a shiny object.

Once you've identified that you are indeed suffering from shiny object syndrome, it's time to take action!

The second step you can take towards overcoming shiny object syndrome is to listen to this episode of the podcast.

In it, Katie will talk you through how shiny object syndrome can show up in your life, and actually spill into your business and offerings.

Once you've listened, you will hear her talk about this FREE guide to checks and balances.

Do make sure you download it and do the work.
